There are times when the vibration spectrum does not provide conclusive evidence of the exact nature and severity of the fault condition. Faults like unbalance, misalignment, bent shaft, cocked bearing, eccentricity, looseness and resonance can all be confused.
This presentation will introduce the concept of phase, explain how to measure phase, and then demonstrate how it can be used to distinguish one fault condition from another.
