Job: Maintenance Coordinator – POET Biorefining Fostoria, OH

The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for supervising all positions within the Maintenance Department. Team members in this position will schedule and complete work orders and coordinate plans to maximize performance and control the Repair and Maintenance budget. The Maintenance Coordinator will provide assistance with the spare parts inventory and be responsible for developing preventative maintenance schedules for process equipment, maintenance for all equipment and maintaining up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures. POET biorefineries operate on a 24-hour continuous schedule. Team member must be available as needed.

Essential Duties

1. Lead team members using a performance management process by providing feedback, career development
opportunities and goal setting.
2. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability among team members by fostering a spirit of teamwork.
3. Interview and hire team members according to POET’s Standard Operating Procedures.
4. Ensure team members are trained in all aspects of existing maintenance procedures.
5. Oversee the application and completion of the facility’s preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and
work orders in the Maximo system.
6. Maintain the spare parts inventory and supplies; support the purchasing function in coordination with the maintenance
7. Contact contractors and vendors to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining biorefinery equipment as needed.
8. Work closely with other operating departments to reduce or eliminate down time as directed by the management
9. Assist the management team in the development of the annual Repair and Maintenance budget.
10. Coordinate facility shutdown planning and execution with the management team.
11. Schedule and complete work orders and projects needed for repair or upgrades.
12. Assist Plant Technicians with duties as necessary; this includes, but is not limited to, routine cleaning and testing
and working on the floor with Technicians when shutdowns occur.
13. Remove, install, rebuild, weld, torch, lubricate and clean all equipment associated with biorefinery processes as
14. Create and present reports detailing maintenance activities, state of biorefining equipment, shut down planning and
cost control.
15. Ensure compliance of all company, State and Federal regulatory agency policies and rules and assist in implementing
approved changes.
16. Ensure all daily documentation and accountability of required mechanical information is completed in a timely and
accurate manner.
17. Operate equipment including, but not limited to: telehandler, skid steers, tractors, ATVs, pay loaders and forklifts.
18. Perform all tasks associated with Feed Safety/Quality, assigned or as needed, to meet internal and external
requirements relating to the production of safe, quality feed products.
19. Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
20. Work in an honest and ethical manner; maintain confidentiality on all business related matters.
21. Team member is expected to physically report to work on time at their assigned location and is seldom absent.
22. Team member can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and is
conscientious about assignments.
23. Maintain a team environment with other departments at all times.
24. Champion POET in the community.
25. Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.
26. Other duties as assigned.


To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide
the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal training within a manufacturing/production maintenance environment required.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of maintenance procedures for centrifuges, drying equipment, boilers, cooling towers, chiller, air
compressors, pumps, valves, electrical circuits and equipment, and 4-20 milliamp instrumentation required.
• Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to
work well in a team is required.
• Forklift certification (or ability to achieve) required as well as a valid driver’s license with proof of insurance.
• Experience with Maintenance management systems such as Maximo is preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Some experience with fabrication, welding, cutting; repair of equipment such as gearboxes and agitator
assemblies; boiler operations and water chemistry; material handling systems such as conveyors; preventative
maintenance practices, fabrication and repair of metal/plastic piping systems; and instrument and electrical work
• Knowledge of cGMP food regulations and compliance with POET biorefining regulations preferred.
• Experience with concrete work, hydraulics, pneumatic and fluid processes, and ability to read schematic drawings
• Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook along with the ability and willingness to learn new software applications


This position is largely self-directed and requires a thorough understanding of company policy, procedures and values.
Team members will be required to adhere to safety requirements at all times and in all work environments. This position
operates in both an office and plant environment. In the office, the team member will work on a personal computer. In the
plant environment, the team member may be exposed to noise, heat and other elements both inside and outside as well
as possible exposure to moving, mechanical parts, dust, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather
conditions and exposure to chemicals.

Specific physical requirements include:

• Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
• Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
• Opening valves.
• Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
• Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
• Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
• Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
• Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Wearing PPE
• Using hand and power tools.
