Job: Predictive Maintenance Technician - CPS Energy San Antonio

CPS Energy is hiring for a Predictive Maintenance Tech position.

Position Summary
Responsible for Vibration Analysis and Predictive Maintenance programs, utilizing all available resources to maximize productivity, quality and services.

Working Environment

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Employee may potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, noisy and dusty environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Essential Functions

  • Performs Online and Offline Motor Testing; analyzes and trends data;
  • Collects Oil Samples; analyzes for contaminates and trending;
  • Turbine, Generator, Feed Pump Permanent data Acquisition systems; maintains, analyzes, and trends data;
  • Works with existing customers and prospects; new customers with programs to fit their needs;
  • Assembles reports of as-found conditions for customers to recommend corrective actions;

  • Balances rotation equipment at customer sites as well as on the repair test floor in the shop;
  • Collects data on vibration analysis routes analyzes and trends data;
  • Update vibration database and ensures that all reports are properly filed and returned to customer
  • Troubleshoots mechanical issues and recommend solutions;
  • Exercises management skills for leadership of projects and also demonstrates hand-on skills as needed;
  • Performs other duties as assigned;

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree -preferred,
  • 5 years experience in utility industry or public sector;
  • Vibration Institutes’ Analyst ISO 18436.2 Category II or III Certification Program;
  • License & Certification - Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License;
  • Drug test;


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling;
  • Must have favorable driving record
