United States Steel is currently seeking a Plant Reliablity Area Manager for our Great Lakes Works, Ecorse, MI location. The Reliability Process Coordinator will originate and develop analysis methods for determining reliability components, equipment and processes to maximize asset life and productivity.

RCM - Area Manager
This person will be responsible for implementation of the division or plant maintenance planning/scheduling organization including the reliability engineering functions. The incumbent’s responsibility will include building, training, coordinating, and supervising a new team of planners/schedulers and reliability engineer(s) associated with the maintenance planning/scheduling and reliability engineering functions following established best practices. This person will coordinate department or plant planning/scheduling and reliability engineering activities and work with Operations to establish priorities of the maintenance department to reduce unplanned work cost. The areas included are mechanical, electrical, structural, and crane repair. Ability to set and achieve high levels of maintenance efficiencies are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitates the division’s maintenance planning and schedule meetings.

Coordinates the planning function, makes planning assignments, negotiates priority and scheduling of the division’s conflicts to ensure timely and efficient execution of jobs.

Promotes effective work identification

Collaborates with the Reliability Engineer(s), Operations, Engineering and Safety on design and installation of new or modified equipment.

Ensures coordination of efforts on all levels with department Operations and Maintenance to maintain one Reliability team effort.

Reviews and approves weekly, daily and long-term schedules in coordination with maintenance and production activities across the division.

Oversees the effectiveness of work identification and work process flows to established standards.

Oversees planning/scheduling of the preventive maintenance program.

Supports in the appropriation requests and or requisitions.

Checks and verifies accurate labor and material cost for jobs.

Prepares management reports and provide data to others for reporting as needed.

Managers the performance of Planning / Scheduling Coordinator and the Reliability Engineer.

Prioritizes the maintenance planning across the division.

Coordinates the schedules of outages of the division based upon the current business plan, adjusted business plan and upstream/downstream outages.

Manages the integrity and performance of all RCM KPIs.

Supports the analytics presented, activities, and the CMMS infrastructure maintenance requirements conducted by the Reliability Engineer.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (or technologist’s degree) in business, engineering or a related field, or 10 years or more of demonstrated knowledge in a maintenance environment is required.

Minimum of 10 years work experience in iron and steel maintenance is required.

Minimum of 10 years supervisory experience is required.

Cost control and computer planning skills.

Demonstrate strong leadership skills with sense of urgency.

Strong communication skills.

Experience directing and supervising a unionized workforce is preferred.
