Job: Senior Supervisor Reliability Maintenance Sierrita - Green Valley, AZ

Under general supervision, supervises, coordinates and controls the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit through subordinate supervisors.

  • Ensures continued operations of production shifts through execution of the production plan and schedules
  • Provides operations input for production and maintenance planning
  • Ensures adherence to correct safety and operating procedures and compliance with appropriated federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Inspects assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are attained
  • Coordinates daily with other operational and staff areas including, but not limited to: maintenance, processing, engineering, safety, environmental, and sales
  • Directly supervises first-line or shift supervisors
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by advanced leadership training OR
  • Education up to or including a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related area
  • Seven (7) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience
  • Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
  • Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects
  • Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with mining processes and equipment
  • Background or experience with Predictive Maintenance practices
  • IR Level 1 certification, UT Level 1 certification, Emmerson Vibration CSI Category 2 certification or equivalent
  • SMRP Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification
  • Quality Management Systems or Continuous Improvement experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to adapt to and drive development of the company’s safety culture
  • Ability to function effectively as part of diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

Freeport-McMoRan has reviewed the jobs at its various office and operating sites and determined that many of these jobs include tasks or duties that could affect the safety or health of the employees performing these tasks or others.   • Positions within Freeport-McMoRan which are held by employees who receive MSHA, OSHA, DOT and/or Hazard Recognition Training; or
  • Positions within Freeport-McMoRan which are held by employees who operate equipment or motor vehicles in furtherance of performing their Freeport-McMoRan job duties, including operating motor vehicles while on Company business or travel (for this purpose “motor vehicles” includes Company owned or leased motor vehicles and personal motor vehicles used by employees in furtherance of Company business or while on Company travel); or
  • Positions within Freeport-McMoRan which the Company has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description
