Job: Senior Predictive Maintenance Tech -  New Braunfels, TX

The Senior Predictive Maintenance Tech is a Master level position responsible for supervising, leading and mentoring crews in all aspects of reliability centered maintenance practices for NBU electrical, instrumentation/controls and mechanical water and wastewater infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Diagnose, install and repair electrical equipment including motors, generators, air compressors, refrigerant systems, variable frequency drives and motor controls ranging to 4160 voltage
  • Apply principles and practices associated with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, NLSC, electrical codes work methods with tools and operation of high and low voltages and emergency equipment
  • Prepare electrical schematics diagrams, documents and modifications for the purpose of upgrading the performance of electrical equipment and facilities
  • Estimate electrical projects to include material costs and price quotes
  • Recommend repair and replacement of equipment
  • Complete assigned tasks with attention to detail and accuracy to specifications


  • Organize, plan and execute projects
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for machinery and equipment
  • Repair plant machinery and equipment with hoists, jacks, hand tools, welding equipment dial
  • indicators, laser alignment, bearing pullers, and a number of other tools 
  • Develop and submit technical specifications for repair part and equipment
  • Perform advanced level diagnostic tests to resolve routine to complex problems
  • Dismantle, construct, fabricate and assemble various components of facilities and industrial machinery or equipment


  • Perform complex implementation and installation, instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, programming and system administration of Process Programmable Logic controllers (PLCs), control and instrument loops, systems (SCADA) field instrumentation, chemical analysis systems, variable frequency drives, communications network systems, hazardous chemical distribution and detection systems and HMI computer work stations
  • Design, develop and integrate complex process control applications into existing and new process control systems
  • Analyze, document and maintain system databases providing graphical viewing and reporting interfaces, utilizing appropriate modeling and reporting tools and techniques
  • Update, review and prepare reports from databases with information regarding assigned work orders, equipment calibration, repair and inventory


  • Perform FMECA (Failure Modes Effects Cause Analysis) on all industrial electrical and mechanical asset failures
  • Monitor system health by collecting and analyzing data with assessment equipment including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, motor circuit analysis, oil analysis and precision laser alignment
  • Use analysis software to identify possible failures and to recommend time and type of corrective action
  • Generate reports for supervisor


  • Maintain regular attendance; leave schedule should be managed so as to not interfere with ability to accomplish tasks, including special projects and assignments with deadlines
  • Adhere to NBU safety guidelines and practices at all times and in all situations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, office, field site and vehicle as applicable
  • Develop & maintain effective customer service skills for communications with co­workers, customers and the public in general
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of business, employee and customer information in written and oral communications and safeguard sensitive documents

Degree/Diploma Obtained  -Technical

Field of StudyOther

Work Experience Time Frame - Over five years up to and including seven years

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained
with a two year associate’s degree, diploma, or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or
correspondence school

Certification and Licensures Requirements

  • Texas Master Electrical License or Electronic certification training
  • Certifications: Vibration Analysis, I.R. Thermography, Oil Analysis, MLT, Ultrasound, Motor Circuit Analysis, UT Metal Thickness, NDT, Electrical Signature Analysis and Motor Circuit Analysis (Minimum of two level 1’s­Level 2’s preferred)
  • Valid Class “C” or “A” Texas Driver’s License consistent with NBU driving policy

Other Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Texas Master Electrical License or Electronic certification training, electronic associates degree or minimum 3 years Industrial Mechanical experience
  • Preferred certifications in one or more areas: Vibration Analysis, I.R. Thermography, Airborne
  • Ultrasound, UT Metal Thickness, NDT, Tribology, Electrical Signature Analysis and Motor Circuit Analysis
  • TCEQ Class C Water or Wastewater License is preferred.
  • Experience in Water/Wastewater Systems is preferred.
  • Must reside within a thirty minute response time of the NBU Service Center as measured by an internet mapping tool.
