US Navy F-5 Squadrons Require CTRL UL101 For Leak Testing
CTRL Systems, Inc. is proud to announce the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command required the UL101 Ultrasound Detector for a one-time cabin air supply duct test on the F-5 Freedom Fighter. The inspection was carried out without removing the insulation from the duct.
The UL101 Detector performed quite well. Each of the squadrons received their units and quickly went to work. The time to leak-check the entire fleet was drastically reduced because of the UL101, said one of the engineers located at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida. The speed of testing was important for our fleet readiness and training schedules.
The F-5 Squadron listed the UL101 Intrinsically Safe Air Audit Kit as required support equipment for the one-time cabin air supply duct test. This UL101 Kit is available in the military supply system under NSN 6635 01 534 2512 or direct from CTRL under part number 000038.
Test procedures are being developed for periodic duct leak testing by the F-5 Squadron; similar procedures were published by the AV-8 Harrier and C-130J aircraft teams.
Benjamin Fried, Director of Marketing at CTRL Systems, Inc. said, Implementation of the UL101 for the F-5 is part of our continuing efforts to help support the U.S. Military. CTRL began integrating ultrasound technology into the U.S. Army’s wheel and track program in the early 1990’s and has since worked with all branches of the military; including NASA flight missions, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter production and support, legacy aircraft programs, and ship board inspection systems.
