Paint Robotics Engineering Leader - Dublin, VA

Summary

The purpose of this job is to support NRV Paint Production by providing Robotic Technical Leadership expertise and to optimize paint robot effectiveness, productivity and quality. The holder of this position will be responsible for Robotic operation, fault recovery procedures and troubleshooting. Responsible for graphic user interface on electrostatic paint application, all robot pathing and robotic fluid delivery systems. Robot Safety will be a paramount issue, along with pathing adjustments such as logic, software and path alterations through either off-line or on-line methodology, teach pendant operation and data program entries

Core Responsibilities:

  • Highly technical Robot Programming, paint application and Technical expertise in Robot trouble shooting 
  • Monitor and manage all safety and operational precautions and 5S in the assigned Robot Zone 
  • Comply with all Volvo safety regulations and training for Continuous Improvement of Volvo Paint Applications and Appearance 
  • Monitor daily Quality checks in the Robot Zone, PM and work order adherence 
  • Continuously and incrementally improve all Robotic Processes and document as standardized work 
  • Minimize robotic downtime by systematically and proactively monitoring part performance and spare part status; prioritize schedule of immediate replacement with emphasis on most troubled robots 
  • Foster Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S and Root-Cause Investigation experience) while effectively training other Team Members 
  • Manage Safety and Quality of deliverables in the Robotic Zone; lead in demonstration of attention to Quality detail 
  • Coordinate NRV Environmental and Safety considerations 
  • Prioritize work/improvement schedule to support annual shutdowns for PM, 5S, and equipment updates

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Minimum Years of Experience Required:

  • Four (4) Years’ of experience in related environment with educational requirements
  • Eight (8) Years’ of experience in related environment without educational requirements
  • Experience in utilization of mechanical aptitude for performing any mechanical component repair or replacement, in addition to having the knowledge of PLC communications and other robotic peripheral equipment; theoretical and working knowledge of major brands of PLCs – Allen Bradley, Siemens

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ongoing continuous education in computing systems, hardware/software structure, while recognizing the limitations and creating improvements of the existing Paint ROBOT process systems
  • Aggressive solution to all additionally assigned projects with demonstrated passion for Paint business performance and safety
  • Mastery of Paint Process and Equipment Transfer Efficiency, Quality checks and verifications
  • High level of demonstrated computer skill proficiency including but not limited to Paint Pro, Microsoft products, PowerPoint Presentations – Robot Programming and adjustments for trouble shooting initiatives – ability to take the lead through hands on activity when conditions call for increased capability of programmers
  • Mastery of backup and restoration of all Robot Programs with paint parameters and fluid presets
  • Sustainability of Paint Best Practices, Quality checks, AM/PM, Process Improvement Plans and Standardized Work in the robot zone and associated areas
  • Demonstrated advanced level experience with Troubleshooting, Problem Solving Protocols and Techniques, Visual Aides and Production Control Boards
  • Bell Application experience
