Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Maintenance Manager to join our team at our Evergreen mill location. The Maintenance Manager will create excellence in an environment that promotes both individual ownership and team results! The Evergreen mill promotes a culture that embraces diversity and thrives on innovation. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating a strong safety culture, driving positive change, improving maintenance systems, and effectively leading multi-craft associates. Strong PLC and electrical skills are also highly desired.


Our Evergreen mill produces engineered wood products and is located in Castleberry, Alabama. Major cities in the area are Montgomery, AL (90 miles from Castleberry); Mobile, AL (90 miles from Castleberry); and Pensacola, FL (75 miles south of Castleberry).

Key Functions

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all maintenance activities including:

  • Associate skill development and performance management, safety of associates being the highest priority
  • Understand and support the plant's environmental permits and help to operate within compliance
  • Work with operations to achieve process reliability targets
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and improvement initiatives
  • Continuously improve site costs
  • Interface with procurement and work closely with Area Engineer and vendors on implementation of capital projects
  • Mechanical, electrical, PLC programming, planning, stores, and the powerhouse all fall within the maintenance leader's area of responsibility.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a maintenance team in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Exemplifying cohesive team building skills across all levels of the organization
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff members
  • Demonstrated experience with programmable logics control (PLC) and other electronics
  • Application of Lean manufacturing tools
  • Flexible work hours are required to meet the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SAP maintenance and purchasing
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Business, Forestry or related field
