Asset Management Council and UGL Services an Asset to Victorian Engineering Industry Week
Attendees gained great industry knowledge from the AM Council on how, despite the current unsteady economic climate, the asset management community is continuing to deliver improved reliability of assets and financial performance for organisations across Australia. UGL Services’ Ken Robertson (Asset Manager) and Ian McGrath (Design Manager) then delivered a presentation on “Asset Management at the Royal Women’s Hospital”, outlining the asset management plan that UGL Services - as FM Service Provider - has put in place for the recently opened hospital in Melbourne.
One of the key messages addressed was the British Standards Institute PAS 55 - Part1: Specification for the optimised management of physical assets, a worldwide specification for any organisation seeking to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in managing its physical assets; A worldwide specification that was successfully incorporated by UGL Services into the Women’s Asset Management Plan, regarding the design of the building, the establishment of asset management documentation, including processes and procedures, and the establishment and continuation of an effective maintenance strategy, helping to ensure that the hospital achieves, and often exceeds, its asset management strategy, performance and condition targets.
A tour of the Women’s concluded the event, led by Mr McGrath and another of UGL Services’ FM experts, David Galea.
The event provided a valuable insight into the work of our Victorian engineers, together with a glimpse of the ongoing dedication, support and commitment offered by leading asset management experts the AM Council and UGL Services.
