I have used this basic maintenance tip mainly with pumps but can also be applied to most equipment where that piece of equipment can be affected by internal or external forces. When you have confirmed that the equipment is secured and aligned to your satisfaction then use a paint stick pen and draw a reference line down the flat of the bolt nut and the base plate.
Now as part of your preventive maintenance checks instead of using a spanner or torque wrench to check security of each individual nut you can just visually check that the painted reference is still aligned.
