Better Work Instructions

Did you know that if the work instructions (job cards) have all the task steps printed in CAPS that there is a built-in reading error rate of up to 30%? While it can seem counter intuitive as one would think that a document that is all in CAPS would be easier to reed, that's not the case. Here's a quick fix - Most word processing programs can take a block of selected text and convert it back to lower case. Microsoft Word will even make sure that each sentence starts with a CAP letter! Try breaking up long sentences and splitting paragraphs into smaller, easier to read steps. How about adding some pictures to illustrate and emphasize?
