CMMS Company Goes Hands Free with Personal Voice Assistant Integration

Maintenance Care Announces Its CMMS Platform to Integrate with Amazon’s Alexa

CAMBRIDGE, ON - MARCH 02, 2018

Maintenance Care, a leading provider of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) announced today that it is expanding the capabilities of its system by integrating its platform with Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa. Customers can now use Amazon’s Echo devices equipped with Alexa to provide them with audio maintenance updates and task reminders.

Customers can ask Alexa a variety of questions related to Maintenance Care’s CMMS software, including:

  • Alexa, do I have any new tasks?
  • Alexa, how many new tasks to I have?
  • Alexa, how many new tasks since last week?
  • Alexa, what’s new with Maintenance Care?

“We are always searching for ways to make our software as user-friendly as possible,” said Dan Roberge, president of Maintenance Care. “In this line of work, our customers may be under a sink, fixing a leak and unable to grab their phones to check their maintenance task list. Alexa integration gives our customers one more way to keep track of their tasks so that they can better manage their time and stay on top of needed repairs.”

Maintenance Care’s Alexa integration is just one more tool the company has built to provide its customers with greater usability. The software platform also offers a mobile app that gives customers full access to their CMMS platform, allowing them to manage tasks, calculate time, receive notification for preventive maintenance, and use barcode scanning to look up assets.

Maintenance Care’s Alexa integration comes as more and more companies are embracing the potential of the virtual assistant market. According to a recent article in Slate, Amazon’s Echo devices make up roughly 70 – 75% of the smart home speaker market. While only 11% of households currently own a smart home speaker, according to the same article, roughly 45% of households plan to purchase at least one. An Amazon Echo (2nd Generation) currently retails for $99.99, while the Echo Dot retails for $49.99.
