Many plants currently use galvanized tin oil containers, plastic jugs, watering or coffee cans and even soap or bleach bottles as portable transfer containers. Having an open top on any oil transferring container is poor practice allowing anything in the environment to enter the oil. The solution is to use a dedicated oil transfer system that is closed off to the environment. The ideal system would be available in different configurations that are color coded allowing for the use of a plant-wide color coordinated system to reduce the chance of cross contamination with other oils and substances. The color coded system should also be extended to the lubrication point which helps identify which lubricant goes to what lubricated component.
