While the focus is often on the characteristics of maintainability when considering reactive maintenance, it is equally important to consider those characteristics when viewing preventive maintenance. After all, in many ways, preventive maintenance is equally invasive as repair maintenance and once the commitment has been made to disassemble an item or equipment, it makes the most sense to use that opportunity to reset the clock on the usable life of the asset.
