Knowing when to inspect your machinery is one thing, but knowing what to look for is another. Each employee who will have a hand in inspections should have a thorough checklist so that they can adequately examine the equipment from end to end. Maintain different types of checklists for different purposes - daily, weekly, monthly, etc. - to ensure that you are being thorough.
And remember that sometimes it's not enough to determine that, yes, the machine is functioning today. Your equipment will warn you when it's about to fail, if you know what to look for, listen for and even smell so that you can better predict when unscheduled maintenance is needed.
