Meggitt Sensing Systems Introduces High-g Shock Accelerometer for Military & Armored Vehicle Tes
San Juan Capistrano, California, USA – Meggitt Sensing Systems, a Meggitt group division, has announced the successful application of its high-g shock accelerometers for the testing of military and armored vehicles and their associated components.
Armored vehicle OEMs rely upon the collection of accurate high vibration and shock data to develop safer and more durable finished product designs. This includes assessments of the blast effects of various armored layers upon vehicle occupant safety during detonation of an improved explosive device (IED), or roadside bomb. Measured parameters can include near-field shock and other long-duration transient parameters; short-duration shock motion; weapons penetration; and pyrotechnic shock. Collected data is further utilized to determine vehicle safety testing and finished product specifications, as well as to refine military contract bid requirements.
Available in full-scale ranges from 2,000 g to 200,000 g, Endevco® 7270A piezoresistive accelerometers are rugged, compact and low mass units, offering high resonance frequency with low-impedance output, high overrange, and zero damping for no phase shift. The high resonance frequency of these sensors permits their continued survivability in the presence of high-frequency shock pulse components that could otherwise shatter the typical seismic systems of lower resonance accelerometers. These attributes further allow the Endevco® 7270A to accurately respond to fast rise times. The transducer is also offered with a usable frequency range from DC response to 10 kHz, with excellent stability over a wide temperature range.
Recommended accessories for model 7270A include the Endevco® 126 three-channel DC bridge amplifier; model 136 three-channel signal conditioner; and model 436 DC differential voltage amplifier. Please note that global sale of this product is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations, requiring a license for all non-US shipments, and with other potential restrictions on its sale and use. Please consult factory for details.
