Extending the Reach of Automated Detection and Correction of Impending Failures to Protect Fleet

SAN DIEGO, CA. (February 23, 2016) – Mtell announced today that CSX Transportation has selected Mtell as a key provider of prescriptive and predictive analytics solutions and services for its North American locomotives, railcars, and railway facilities. 4ATMOS Technologies LLC, a technical consulting firm for industrial markets and Mtell certified partner, will supply implementation and consulting services for Mtell projects at CSX Transportation.

The enterprise agreement provides for implementation of multiple asset reliability projects over the next three years throughout the CSX network. Projects in process for CSX equipment in North America include locomotive lube oil data analysis to avoid engine failures, degradation detection combined with prescriptive analysis for locomotive operational systems, and hot bearing detection to avoid derailments.

Mtell’s industrialized machine learning is the cornerstone of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) prescriptive maintenance solutions that are improving contemporary methods of inspections and service. Mtell uses real, measured data to focus on the origins of degradation and sends early warnings to fix problems before they impact operations; thereby reducing maintenance efforts, extending the life of capital assets, and providing improved equipment availability. Today, Mtell maximizes operational effectiveness for customers in diverse markets including transportation, oil and gas, mining, water/wastewater, and other asset-intensive industries.

"CSX has made it clear that continuous, safe locomotive operations are a top priority," said Mtell CEO, Paul Rahilly, "and CSX management has taken a proactive approach to searching out the best technology solutions to support these goals. Our solution proved superior due to earlier warnings, accuracy, and automated detection and corrective action for impending failures."
