The 27th International Pump Users Symposium Held in Parallel With 40th Turbomachinery Symposium
The technical advisory committee for the Pump Symposium made this decision in near unanimity at their meeting on 18 March. No single factor caused the decision; however, the present economic downturn is generally hurting professional-development activities. The Pump Symposium advisory committee feels that a jointly-offered program with the Turbomachinery Symposium will make the ability to attend more likely for working rotating equipment professionals. They also believe that the presence of a larger audience will encourage more activity in the exhibit hall.
Details remain to be worked out; however, the following items are certain:
1. The advisory committees will remain separate.
2. The programs will stay largely separate. The two committees might decide to have some joint program activities as we move forward.
Because of the shift from April 2011 to September 2011 for the Pump Symposia, the due date for Pump 27 Abstracts has been changed from May 3, 2010, to September 27, 2010, which will coincide with the Abstract due date for Turbo 40.
Many thanks to the long-term supporters of both Symposia. Any suggestions on how to make this parallel presentation be of more value will be appreciated.
