Reliability. It is possibly the most common word used by maintenance professionals today, but the definitions are as multitudinous as the number of times the definition is questioned.
Because we lack a common understanding of the concept, we also lack a consistent strategy to achieve our goals. The consequences are a great variety of results for strategies that supposedly are designed to achieve the exact same result.
1) Discuss the definitions and responsibilities of "maintenance" and "repair" and how they relate to reliability.
2) Understand the relationship of reliability with planning and scheduling, root cause investigation, and predictive maintenance.
