World Premiere: COGEP Launches Guide Ti Mobile, the First Physical Asset Maintenance Management App
Guide Ti Mobile will be presented for the first time on March 18th at MICROSOFT DYNAMICS CONVERGENCE 2013 in New Orleans at COGEP’s booth. Microsoft’s international convention will be host to 11,000 participants, partners and clients of Dynamics GP, AX and NAV enterprise solutions.
Always innovating , COGEP now offers its customers a mobile version of Guide Ti, which will enable users to have more autonomy and work more efficiently whether they’re on line or not. “This application reinvents the way in which information is presented to users while ensuring that they can use it on site with confidence”, explained Michel Fournier, President of COGEP.
Guide Ti Mobile is as simple to use and as intuitive as the PC-based version, yet offers the advantages of a touch screen and mobility. “We aligned our development efforts with Microsoft’s standards regarding the Surface tablet to mirror its graphical user interface and user experience. In addition, we added the COGEP touch to help users work more efficiently on site and enable them to benefit from the touch features of Microsoft’s Surface tablet,” explained François Rancourt, Project Director at COGEP. “Guide Ti Mobile is remarkably easy to use, navigation is intuitive and response times are extremely rapid,” he added.
Greater autonomy and efficiency wherever maintenance work is carried out
For many organizations, one of the most unique and useful features of Guide Ti Mobile is the ability of workers to access data already on the tablet while they are working in buildings in which the Internet is not available. They can even create new work orders and close them while at these locations. Because the information gathered from the application is stored on the tablet, it can be transferred via Web services to a database on a server once an internet connection is re-established and synchronization occurs.
The application was developed to make workers more productive thanks to intuitive navigation that adheres to the philosophies of both Microsoft and COGEP. Among other benefits, the mobile application makes it possible to assign specific daily tasks to specific employees. “A worker can now see in a second all the tasks that need to be performed that day. As well, the person can browse all his/her work orders on site and view the list of equipment associated with a particular task,” noted Rancourt.
Improve communication speed and efficiency
According to Michel Fournier, this is a momentous accomplishment in COGEP’s history and one that coincides with the 10th anniversary of its flagship product Guide Ti. “Mobility enables maintenance personnel to react rapidly in emergencies,” said Fournier. Use of a tablet can significantly increase the speed of communication between stakeholders and reduce response time. “You have an emergency that requires intervention and your team has already headed off to another service call? There is no cause for alarm because synchronization between the maintenance manager’s workstation and the tablet enables new work orders to be sent to your maintenance workers without them having to return to the office.
Mobile solution 100% compatible with enterprise network infrastructure
COGEP, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner since 2007 and recipient of the prestigious Microsoft Impact Award, chose to develop its mobile application for the Microsoft environment to ensure compatibility with network infrastructures and Microsoft software already in place. This results in reduced costs and implementation time. For this reason, several existing customers in the building and manufacturing sectors have already confirmed their purchase of the Guide Ti Mobile application for the Microsoft mobile tablet. “The arrival of Windows 8 presented an opportunity to develop a tool for an operating system present nearly everywhere in the workplace. Guide Ti Mobile changes the way that maintenance is managed on a daily basis and achieves COGEP’s goal of helping users be more productive in the field.
