Wyoming’s First Wind Energy Industry Manufacturer Joins Wind Coalition
LARAMIE, WY - July 12, 2017
The coalition, a project driven by The Jackson Hole Center for Global Affairs, works to attract and promote wind power investment within the state and encourage public support for Wyoming wind energy. With the support of engaged members such as LogiLube, the Wyoming Wind Coalition plans to promote new and current wind development that will strengthen economic growth and diversification as well as create new jobs and expand Wyoming’s tax base.
“Joining developers, turbine manufacturers, and other wind energy-related businesses, LogiLube's addition to the Wyoming Wind Coalition adds to the diversity of its membership in a way I think the coalition founders envisioned,” said Jonathan Naughton, director of the University of Wyoming’s Wind Energy Research Center. “The benefits a product-oriented company like LogiLube brings to the state of Wyoming, such as jobs and tax revenue, complement other positive contributions of wind energy to the Wyoming economy.”
Due to increasing demand for LogiLube’s technology, the company has added eight direct jobs to Wyoming’s economy within the last three years and plans to add five more full-time positions in 2018. LogiLube is also expanding internationally, setting up representation in Europe to address the mature on-shore and off-shore wind energy market.
Wyoming based LogiLube staff have developed a suite of products such as SmartGear™, SmartParticle™, SmartTalk™, SmartData™ and SmartSecurity™ that combine IoT sensors, cloud computing and advanced condition monitoring technology to help companies track the condition of the machinery used in energy production. Products produced in Wyoming, like LogiLube SmartGear™ technology, contribute to lowering the LCOE (levelized cost of electricity) for wind turbine operators by increasing the productivity, reliability and lifespan of the drivetrain.
LogiLube has also grown its Wyoming operation, graduating from a University of Wyoming (UW) incubator to a county-owned technology park building in Laramie. Also in partnership with the university, LogiLube is sponsoring several UW Senior Design Projects that are directly related to advancing the state of wind energy equipment reliability, further reducing the LCOE. These students will also have direct access to industry mentors such as GE WindEnergy and Clipper Windpower executive Lawrence (Larry) Willey and Andy Paliszewski, formerly of Siemens, who currently serve as LogiLube Strategic Advisory Board members.
