MaximoWorld Award: asset management as a driver of quality and business leadership

Technology, innovation, the advantages of AI and the validation of continuous efforts characterize the MaximoWorld Award 2024, a global benchmark of leadership in asset management that recognizes continuous improvement and the application of best practices in asset management of prestigious organizations.

MaximoWorld Conference co-located with TririgaWorld Conference is a ReliabilityWeb® event held in Phoenix, Arizona, August 5-8, and is chaired by Terrence O'Hanlon, CEO & Publisher of ReliabilityWeb, and Maura Abad, Vice President. Winners will receive their awards at an impeccable award ceremony.

The MaximoWorld Awards, to be presented tomorrow, August 7 at the 8:00am ceremony, highlight the commitment of market-leading companies to bring asset management and reliability to levels of proven excellence, and which are a benchmark and inspiration for the entire industry. This year's theme, “Mastering AI for Asset Management,” expresses the value and importance of digital technologies in business. Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence play a key role and are the differentiator by driving productivity, operational excellence and profitability exponentially.

The Winners

This year, the jury awarded several companies and organizations in the various categories into which the awards are divided after a fierce competition. The bar for asset management is getting higher and higher. The winners and their respective categories were:

Best Maximo Data Governance Award: Maximo Support Staff at UC Berkeley Facilities Services.

This award went to Maximo Support Staff at UC Berkeley Facilities Services, whose efforts are focused on achieving continuous system improvement to “help staff effectively track their work efforts across campus. Winning this award provides validation and recognition for our efforts,” team members noted. UC Berkeley, the prestigious California university with a long tradition of academic achievement, requires a comprehensive Facility Management system that enables the proper functioning of the campus, classrooms, labs, offices and common spaces. The Maximo suite is the infallible ally for this purpose.

Best Maximo Data Governance Award: ABS Consulting

ABS Consulting is a leading organization that specializes in providing comprehensive engineering and risk management solutions. Joe Woods, Senior Vice President Business Development at ABS Group, expressed his team's great satisfaction at winning this award. "This recognition of the Best Maximo Data Governance Award underscores ABS Consulting's dedication to driving operational excellence. Our collaboration with UC Berkeley has resulted in a transformative approach to system improvements and data management." He added that winning the award validates the strategy they deployed in combining “comprehensive user assessments with innovative solutions to create lasting improvements in data governance and operational efficiency” -said Woods.

Best Maximo Asset Health/Predictive Maintenance: Evergy

"Evergy's Maximo Asset Health and Predictive Maintenance solution has successfully optimized asset performance. This has led to improved network reliability by proactively monitoring critical assets in real time. As a result, Evergy extended their useful life and identified potential problems before they became costly breakdowns” - noted the winners of this recognition. Evergy Inc. is the largest electric utility in Kansas, serving more than 1.7 million customers in a 72,900 km2 service territory with about 16,300 km of transmission lines and about 84,000 km of distribution lines. Company representatives explain that the comprehensive preventive maintenance process within Maximo EAM “strengthened predictive processes and ensured a reliable and efficient supply of electricity to customers.” Evergy implemented Maximo's Health and Predictive modules, which positioned the company as a leader in the utility sector, leveraging AI and machine learning for operational excellence. The use and application of these solutions from the Maximo suite earned them this award.

Best Connected Workforce: Miral Experiences and Thiran Technologies

MIRAL is an organization that provides services in the entertainment and attractions industry, and its main objective is to provide its customers with pleasant and memorable experiences. In this context, ensuring safety is paramount, for which MIRAL, in conjunction with the THIRAN organization, uses technology and innovation to leverage its operational efficiency. This has earned them the Best-Connected Workforce award. “We are honored to receive this prestigious award, which recognizes the collaborative efforts of MIRAL and THIRAN in transforming MIRAL Experiences operational landscape,” said company representatives upon learning of the results, adding that this recognition motivates them even more to “continue to push the boundaries of excellence in the entertainment industry.”

Best Maximo Implementation: Nova Scotia Power

Nova Scotia Power, the Canadian power utility, earned the Best Maximo Implementation award after achieving proven results following a transformation process using MAS8 Manage. "Together with our partners at PwC, we modernized transmission, distribution and meter service operations, achieving unprecedented efficiency and customer service. Our methodology enabled seamless integration, improved user engagement and delivered more than $60 million in expected benefits” - commented representatives of this organization upon receiving notification of their win. The achievements following the implementation of Maximo are a testament to innovation and excellence in digital transformation for utilities.

Best Maximo MRO Spare Part Management Solution: Skookum

Skookum, a leader in Facility Management services for federal and commercial customers, won this award by implementing an integrated supply chain solution, which enabled it to show significant benefits such as faster job turnaround, lower material cost and higher wrench-time. Skookum's Director of Reliability and Asset Management, Scott Smith, thanked Skookum on behalf of the company for this award, also highlighting the collaboration of the P2Insight and Varis organizations, with whom they formed working teams. “We are honored to receive this award, as the implementation of this solution benefited both our technicians and our customers” - he said. Skookum is an organization of proven excellence, in addition to Facility Management it is also engaged in manufacturing and is a recognized social entrepreneur.

Best Maximo MRO Spare Part Management: P2Insight Inc.

Solving supply chain challenges using the Maximo suite of applications earned P2Insight Inc. this award. Mike Popovic, President and Founder, P2Insight Inc. noted that for the company this recognition signifies “an honor and a vindication of our purpose.” While assets and work orders or scheduling are crucial aspects within asset management, managing the supply chain with proper visibility and control, integration and automation will result in productivity, efficiency and reliability of the entire process. “This is the next frontier for many asset managers, and we have it figured out” -said Popovic of the award.
