The Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has developed a common FRACAS (C-FRACAS+) tool to enhance operational readiness and to develop more effective prognostic health monitoring. C-FRACAS+ is being applied across 30 separate aircraft platforms, support systems and on-wing equipment at all stages of system lifecycle from early development to sustainment. Millions of maintenance actions and tens of thousands of flights are processed in the system annually. This presentation describes the NAVAIR R&M and PHM programs and how C-FRACAS+ is integral to both to help drive process improvement. Maintenance actions are extracted from the CMMS daily and automatically scored for R&M relevancy. The calculation is 95% accurate, enabling R&M analysts to focus on the most relevant maintenance actions. A formal review board process is available to review and approve scored maintenance actions and to enable updates to improve data quality.
