The hierarchy of controls is a widely used method for ranking safeguards to protect workers from hazards. It is considered a safety tool, but the concept can be applied to overall risk mitigation for all problems within an organization. This session explains how the hierarchy of controls can be combined with root cause analysis to achieve a clearer understanding of incidents and develop a wider range of solution options from which the most effective can be selected.
