TRC-2019 Learning Session 37:11 minutes

By Jeff Hay, RDI Technologies and Judd Jones, Weyerhaeuser

Motion amplification (MA) is a video-processing technique that detects subtle motion and amplifies that motion to a level visible to the naked eye. Videos created through motion amplification enhance the understanding of the components and interrelationships creating the motion. Every pixel in the camera becomes a sensor, creating millions of data points in an instant, all in phase with one another.

This is a co-presentation with Jeff Hay of RDI Technologies and Judd Jones of Weyerhaeuser. Judd Jones is a certified practitioner of MA with over 20+ years in industry and leverages motion amplification to perform predictive maintenance and solve machine health issues with a focus on machine improvements. He will highlight how MA is utilized in his day-to-day operations, as well as how he integrates the technology into their predictive maintenance strategies. This presentation will focus heavily on a series of case studies examining common motors and machinery at Weyerhaeuser facilities along with studies on assets such as chipheads and saws. We will examine how motion amplification lends itself to easily identify and diagnose issues common to motors, fans, pumps and other types of machinery.

Establishing Expectations and Requirements for Performance Digital Twins

Establishing Expectations and Requirements for Performance Digital Twins

Jared Hartness, GE Digital

Implementing digital twins is becoming a strategic necessity for many industrial companies. In this session, learn the basics of how digital twin models should be built, how to scale and implement these models on assets and systems to create a twin, and discover best practices for how to leverage these twins operationally to predict, diagnose and forecast performance degradation as a part of your reliability work processes.

Proactively Addressing Your Most Chronic Downtime Causing Maintenance Issues

Equipment failure is an unwanted, yet unavoidable, reality that negatively affects a facility’s production time, capability, and workplace safety. Unfortunately, due to large workloads in today’s world, maintenance teams tend to conduct reactive maintenance rather than proactive maintenance.
