New Mandatory Electrical Reliability Standard

TIm Rohrer

OSHA requires that Employers create a work environment that is free from known hazards, while complying with related standards. Electrical reliability has long been recognized by the NEC and NFPA 70E as an essential part of a safe work enviornment. As such, NFPA 70B Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance (formerly a best-practice) has been elevated to a "mandatory standard," similar in standing to its counterparts, NEC and NFPA 70E.
Complying with NFPA 70B has left facilities scrambling to ensure that they are performing a variety of mandated inspections and tests on periodic intervals prescribed in the standard. And they are struggling with how to perform this increased amount of testing, often with fewer people.

You can ask anything about maintenance, reliability, and asset management.
