Award winners are recognized for significant improvements through innovation and education.

Chicago, IL - APICS The Association for Operations Management today announced Caterpillar Inc. and Hewlett-Packard as 2012 APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence winners. Each year, APICS-the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in supply chain and operations management-recognizes significant bottom-line and workforce development results achieved through innovation and education.

The awards were presented to Caterpillar Inc. and Hewlett-Packard at the 2012 APICS International Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado, USA, October 15.

“We are pleased to honor the achievements and commitment to using innovation and workforce development to achieve significant operational and organizational improvements,” said APICS chief executive officer Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “Caterpillar Inc. and Hewlett-Packard demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement.”

Education Award of Excellence winner Caterpillar Inc. was recognized for its “Integrated Supply Chain Strategy” initiative, which improved the supply chain team’s expertise in the APICS body of knowledge. The organization increased APICS education, certification, and membership at Caterpillar Inc., and achieved its most profitable quarter in company history.

Innovation Award of Excellence winner Hewlett-Packard was commended for its innovative solution to supply chain challenges. Hewlett-Packard’s solution built strong supplier partnerships to reduce costs and maintain high customer service and recognized the importance of supplier relationships in supply chain success.

The APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence honorees were selected by a panel of industry and subject matter experts. The award honorees are evaluated based on the business results, ongoing impact, and practicality of their submission. APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence honorees were recognized for their achievements at the 2012 APICS International Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado, USA, October 14-16, 2012.
