As experts in IBM Maximo implementation, Interloc Solutions provided BART with near real-time information on asset availability for locations requiring parts, whether for an on-going need or an expedited service. This first phase streamlined the BART Materials Management, including two main “hub” warehouses that provide the primary inventory supply for all BART departments, and six significant “spoke” operations that support their heavy end-of-line maintenance and component facilities. The automated reorder process will enable BART to provide enhanced inventory management in a proactive and cost effective manner.
Additionally, this first phase included comprehensive integration with PeopleSoft for financial transactions, companies, vendors, Item Master, and Human Resource records.
To keep up with the mobile workforce of BART, Interloc Solutions implemented a mobile component to facilitate, issue, return, transfer, reorder, and cycle counting. For more efficient issue/return and cycle count processing, the mobile devices are infrared (IR) enabled to allow reading bins and part information using bar-codes.
“This successful delivery of new tools for the materials chain is an important part of modernizing the BART administrative systems that support both the operations and business need,” stated Randall Franklin, Program Director Business Advancement Program, Bay Area Rapid Transit System. Franklin goes on to say that this “was the most trouble-free implementation thus far in the BAP.”
The rollout of Maintenance Management functionality for the 11 functional departments commenced in December 2010 and is scheduled to complete in April 2011. As of January 19, 2011 there are 5 departments currently live on Maximo for Transportation. The remaining departments will rollout using the Maximo Asset Configuration Manager and Mobile Work Management.
