ISO Preliminary Meeting on Asset Management recommends go-ahead!

Some 35 delegates attended representing 14 countries and several other ISO and IEC committees. The outcome of the meeting were clear recommendations to ISO Technical Management Board (TMB) that a Project Committee should be established to develop an International Standard for Asset Management in 3 parts. The scope of the 3 documents was agreed and recommendations made for ongoing liaisons with other ISO and IEC committees. A decision from ISO TMB is expected by mid-september latest.

The project is gaining momentum and international enthusiasm. We are aware that around 22 countries will now engage in the process in some form and we anticipate liaisons with over a dozen other technical committees.

Further information will be presented at next weeks IAM Members Conference in Warwick. Rhys Davies can be contacted to answer specific questions or direct people wanting to engage in the process to their local standards body. Rhys.Davies@theIAM.org
