New Technologies Improve Human Capital Management

The World Health Organization asserts that healthcare workforce shortages have replaced system financing as “the most serious obstacle” to realizing the right to health within countries. Coverage expansion and parity intensify an already critical U.S. workforce challenge. There is an urgent need to support recruiting, training, and retaining the right talent. The National Council for Behavioral Health (National Council) is intensifying its commitment to ensuring service capacity through a partnership with DATIS, a human capital management software company for non-profit agencies.

“Human capital is our largest and most vital asset. Nurturing and developing our workforce is the only way to meet service demand and stand up to increasing competition,” said Linda Rosenberg, President and CEO of the National Council. “Our partnership with DATIS is designed to bring best practices in workforce management to our members, enhancing efficiency and accountability while promoting our ultimate goal of improving consumer outcomes.”

“DATIS has helped us manage our human resources more effectively, which has significantly improved internal and external customer service,” explained Maggie Labarta, President and CEO of Meridian Behavioral Healthcare in Florida. “DATIS helps expedite hiring, ensure that appropriate number of staff are always available in our units, and automates all approval and review processes. Soon, our performance appraisal system will be fully automated — HR is becoming paper-free,” she added.

Using cloud-based technology, DATIS allows large behavioral health organizations to manage all workforce administration needs — budgeting, planning, position control, recruiting, onboarding, credentialing and compliance management, payroll and benefits administration — through a single unified system. The system also provides the capability to obtain incisive workforce analytics and costing data for payers. DATIS offers easy 24/7access to workforce management portals through current technology and supports executive decision-making with easy-to-read dashboards.

“We’ve been able to add more than 400 employees without growing the human resources department as a direct result of DATIS e3. The system is easy to use and has yielded efficiency in operations, helping us fulfill our mission and strategic objectives more effectively,” said Jerry Vagnier, President of Helen Ross McNabb Center.

“National Council members are committed to excellence in healthcare. We’re honored to have the opportunity to support them by offering a comprehensive, state-of-the-art workforce development system. We want to empower talented and dedicated workers to realize their fullest potential so they can minimize their administrative tasks and spend the most time helping people with mental and addiction disorders,” said Brian Kennedy, Founder and CEO of DATIS.

The National Council offers an array of workforce development programs and learning opportunities for 500,000+ staff in behavioral health organizations and seeks to enhance its resources and value through the DATIS partnership.  DATIS and the National Council will bring new human capital management strategies, tips, and resources to behavioral health organizations through webinars, blogs, and online content.
