Predictive Maintenance Startup ProAxion Wins Big at 2017 NC Tech Awards

Recognized as Top Ten Startup by North Carolina Technology Association

RALEIGH, N.C.

ProAxion (www.proaxion.io), inventor of the innovative TACTIX™ 24x7 predictive maintenance system to maximize industrial uptime, was recently selected as a Top Ten Startup at the 2017 North Carolina Technology Association’s NC Tech Awards.

With quick and easy plug-and-play installation, TACTIX drastically simplifies the process of measuring, transmitting, and analyzing vibration and temperature data for remote monitoring of rotating machines.

“Industry recognizes the tremendous improvement in up-time with continuous monitoring rather than reactive maintenance or even scheduled inspection and measurement,” said Robert Oliva, CFO of PMI Ash Technologies, adding, “For improved plant reliability, lower maintenance costs, higher product quality, and enhanced safety, TACTIX is an incredibly simple yet impressively reliable way to achieve this.”

ProAxion was recognized at the annual NCTA awards gala at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center, presented in conjunction with title sponsor Cherry Bekaert. This year’s event was attended by more than 700 leaders from across the state. The NC Tech Awards is North Carolina's only statewide technology awards program, recognizing companies and individuals who have characterized excellence, innovation and leadership.

Created to improve plant reliability and safety; lower the total cost of operation and maintenance; and improve the quality of products to help manufacturers run better businesses and increase customer satisfaction, ProAxion is actively developing products designed for the demanding environments of the industrial world using the latest in wireless sensor, cloud-based analytics and mobile communications technology.

The company leverages extensive knowledge and expertise in predictive maintenance (PdM), using non-intrusive continuous monitoring to assess a machine asset's condition. PdM can be "route-based" with scheduled measurement by operations staff OR accomplished via installed sensors, which is also known as Condition Monitoring. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) is being driven by new developments in sensor and wireless technology.

Installed TACTIX sensors are leading IIOT creating the most cost effective remote 24/7/365 vibration monitoring solution, the ultimate in safe, consistent and reliable monitoring of key machinery.

About NCTA
The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) is the statewide membership association for the tech sector. Because technology is integral to any enterprise regardless of size or function, NCTA membership is open to all companies, organizations and institutions. NCTA serves organizations and their people through events, advocacy, virtual networks and resources. For more information, visit our website at www.nctechnology.org.

About ProAxion
ProAxion’s innovative products bring the benefits of data-driven operations and maintenance to the millions of machines that keep our society running and are helping to define the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). While that is useful jargon, we are dedicated to developing practical applications for technology by starting with the business need; not the other way around. Do or Do Not

Data analysis is critical to understanding problems and decision-making. Analysis that is not followed up by an action is likely a wasted opportunity, but not always.

Achieving Trouble Free Bearing Life Through Defect Elimination

When a machine is designed, one of the major considerations the engineer must make is the selection of proper rolling element bearings. Some of the factors to consider in selecting bearings are shaft speeds, loads (both axial and radial), the environment they will run in, how to relube them, the duty cycle, etc.

Who Does This Belong To?

In today’s fast-paced connected world, you and your organization create an abundance of data. In the past, large corporations with multiple locations relied on in person site visits or information provided by the on-site team for updates to productivity in facilities. But what if there was a way to do this remotely?

How Forgotten Data / Information Can Cost Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars

There was a terrible fire in a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant. It destroyed piping and a critical air cooler (fin fan) and damaged pumps, valves, cables and supports. Fortunately, although there were injuries, no one died.

From Good to Great

A large water utility decided to investigate maintenance reliability best practices. There were eight different treatment plants and eight different maintenance managers.

So What?

A week after the plant started up after an annual planned outage, an injection pump motor failed. The motor’s insulation had failed, shorting between phases.
