As inventory transactions typically affect inventory quantities, most mobile Inventory solutions require online, real-time access to their back-end inventory management systems. Occasionally, an organization might need an offline, batch-style solution that stores inventory transactions over a period of time and then submits them at the end of a shift or when a device can connect to the network.

Bechtel required a Mobile Inventory Management solution that supports both scenarios: online, real-time access whenever a reliable network connection is available and reliable offline, store-and-forward capabilities whenever a reliable network connection isn’t available. Furthermore, Bechtel wanted its field workers to be able to easily and seamlessly switch between modes when possible.

Bechtel found the solution to their needs with Blue Dot’s Advanced Mobile Platform and the Advanced Mobile for Infor EAM Inventory Management module. Through the comprehensive services and tools provided by the Advanced Mobile Platform and the efficient support of field-based inventory tasks provided by the Advanced Mobile for Infor EAM Inventory Management module, Bechtel will soon deploy a tailored mobile solution that meets their specific requirements and that allows their field workers to intuitively switch between online and offline functionality as needed on the fly!
