When used oil analysis and/or Direct Reading Ferrographs indicate abnormal wear, Analytical Ferrography is an excellent test to identify the type of wear occurring and the source of wear. Analytical Ferrography is a qualitative, rather than quantitative analysis where particles are examine under a powerful optical microscope to determine size, concentration, color, shape and particle composition.
