In order to create an applicable and effective CBM task, you must do the following:
- Know the conditions that provide us with early warning of failure that we can measure
- Know what is acceptable and what is not acceptable for those conditions
- Define the differences in cost between planned and unplanned work
- Define how much it will cost to do the CBM task at the required interval and justify it versus the cost of the failure occurring over time
