How to Prevent Cross-Contamination of Your Lubricants

Make sure that ALL lubricant containers are clearly labeled with the contents, material number, and SAP/stockroom number to ensure that folks use the correct lubricant when performing routine maintenance as well as for refilling the containers. Include labels with materials and numbers on gearboxes, as well as color-coding to keep things precise and simple. Use OIL SAFE containers to ensure proper lubes are used. These containers are easy to use and refill and allow for proper identification & color-coding. It is also good to use small laminated tags on the materials so that the info doesn't get wiped off, attached with a zip-tie.
