Should You Use the Same Filter Cart for Multiple Applications?

While in theory you may be able to use the same cart for multiple applications, it's typically not recommended.

Most standard carts are designed for low viscosity fluids such as hydraulic fluid or turbine oil. Depending on the design of the cart, if you use this type of cart for more viscous oils like gear oil, you may create excess pressure that can cause the bypass valve on the filter head to crack.

Secondly, while the intent may be to clean and flush the cart between different fluids, in reality this may not be done properly, resulting in cross contamination.
