POSITION SUMMARY

Significantly improves plant performanceby managing maintenance personnel and coordinating with engineering. Ensures that maintenance personnel execute procedures, processes, work instructions, etc. in the manner prescribed, while operating in a team-based environment. Responsible for equipment uptime.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion health and safety initiative within the maintenance functions.
  • Provide expectations, accountability, and direction to direct reports.
  • Lead the policy deployment process within the maintenance functions.
  • Assess, train, and develop competencies within the maintenance organization.
  • Own, manage, and provide oversight to the maintenance management system.
  • Develop and manage the budget for maintenance.
  • Lead and support capital investment plans for the business.
  • Lead problem solving teams, TPM blitzes, and kaizen events in order to improve operating performance.
  • Evaluate and determine equipment capability and needs from an engineering approach.
  • Work with production and engineering to accomplish upgrades and good engineering practices for all equipment.
  • Support the operations team in its efforts to produce product or services that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations in the most cost-effective way.
  • Development of critical personnel and systems.
  • Owner and dissemination of best practices.
  • Work with all levels of management to develop and improve the manufacturing techniques, equipment capabilities, and operating procedures in all processes of the mill.
  • Involvement in team member training, cross-functional teams, R&D, QA procedures, and safety issues.

  • Attends all prerequisite training as required by management.
  • Has the authority to stop process to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes are noncompliant.

Supervisory Responsibilities (If applicable)

Supervises Maintenance Technicians, Apprentices and Press Technicians

Additional Responsibilities (as assigned by Department Manager or General Manager)

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field. 5 years of manufacturing experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) or a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is a decided advantage.
  • Proficient in Statistical Process Control, Reliability Modeling, Prediction Fault Tree.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatics experience is essential.

PBS II: Active in leading, teaching and participating in problem solving throughout the organization to achieve improvements to KPI. Questions, challenges and coaches others in SQDC and LMS.

Project Management: Achieves project deadlines with the use of efficient and effective workplace management tools.

Team Player: Offers ideas and opinions that are in the best interest of the company and is adaptable to the decision made by the team when in the best interest of all.

Urgency: Strong motivation to act and continue to act, until a successful outcome is reached.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and stored energy in the form of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and gravitational energy. The noise level in the work environment is above 85 dcB and hearing protection is required. Due to manufacturing technologies utilized in the area common contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, oil steel chips and water will be present. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. Also may be exposed to fumes or dust.
