This session will share case histories and lesson learned from deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) condition monitoring systems in coal and gas fired power plants. The use of innovative ultrasonic and vibration sensors will be discussed. Pro's and con's of connecting sensors using wireless cellular to a cloud based application will be reviewed.

Case studies will include:

• FD fans and gas recirc. fans monitoring

• Remote cooling tower makeup water pump monitoring

• Wind turbine monitoring

Other case studies included:

• DeathWatch - temporary monitoring of a suspect or impaired rotating asset

• CrashCart - temporary monitoring to diagnose intermittent root issues with rotating equipment
