As the digital generation becomes increasingly intertwined with technology, the concepts of reliability and maintenance emerge as pivotal elements in the seamless integration of digital and physical realms. This presentation will cover some of the expectations and challenges faced by digital natives, who demand constant connectivity and the uninterrupted functionality of their digital tools. We argue that reliability must be redefined as a continuous journey rather than a fixed destination, necessitating a proactive approach to maintenance that anticipates potential disruptions. We will also explore how proactive strategies and educational initiatives can cultivate a culture of maintenance. We highlight the importance of embedding maintenance practices into daily routines and emphasize on the role of awareness and education in fostering a resilient digital infrastructure, capable of supporting the dynamic needs of the digital generation in the real world.
