Loftus began her career working for the Exxon Mobil Oil Corporation; later she transitioned to NYNEX Information Resources Company as the Director of Marketing for over 10 years and was responsible for regional marketing strategies and planning for the Northeastern U.S.  Loftus graduated summa cum laude from Boston College with a BS in Marketing and earned an MBA in Marketing from Pace University.  In addition to her degrees, she earned the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
