After every bearing failure whether it was predicted or not, always check to see what kind of damage has occurred.

Wear patterns on bearing races and cages etc can be extremely important in designing out future faults.

This method is particularly useful when diagnosing faults with large electric motors as electro discharge machining can destroy bearings regularly but is very easy to spot.

Several bearing manufacturers will offer to look at failed bearings for you and submit a report as to why they failed.

Remember friction is the enemy!!
