Funnels are a source of contamination which should be eliminated if at all possible. If funnels are not stored in a dust free environment and cleaned properly before use, all sorts of debris will be added to the system along with the oil when topping off. Some oil transfer containers do have spouts and can accommodate an extension to get in to hard to reach areas. If funnels are a necessity; it is advisable to use a disposable funnel, using it only once.
