In 2005 Corbion, global market leader in lactic acid, lactic acid derivatives, and a leading company in emulsifiers, functional enzyme blends, minerals, vitamins and algae ingredients, started with the improvement of the maintenance programs at their plants. The maintenance programs improved step by step, which resulted in a higher availability and lower maintenance spend. The internal processes were analyzed and improved, and new technologies implemented. Now, thirteen years later the journey is still ongoing. Global Maintenance & reliability Manager Henk van Vugt describes the steps Corbion has taken in the transition from reactive to proactive maintenance. What were the results, what are the next steps and what are the most important lessons learned.
