The National Ignition Facility (NIF) has recently reached a significant milestone with its achievement of humankind’s first successful fusion ignition. The progress made by the program has been fueled in large part by our constant striving for reliability excellence. We will discuss our reliability journey (Rj) at NIF focusing on the actions we have taken to invest in our people, improve competency-based learning (Cbl), and reinforce reliability leadership (LER) and culture in the organization as we continue to incorporate the next generation into our workforce. Special attention will be paid to the uptime elements Continuous Improvement (Ci) and Operational Excellence (Opx).
