FLIR launches new infrared camera for SF6 greenhouse gas detection

Three years ago the first infrared camera for gas detection was launched by FLIR, and today infrared cameras are invaluable tools in finding and visualizing gas leaks. These award winning cameras also play an important role in companies´ environmental work, for instance, in preventing leakage of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a gas 24 000 times more dangerous to the environment than CO2. Now, FLIR launches the second generation infrared camera for SF6 gas leak detection based on this technology, the FLIR GF306.

FLIR Lowers Infrared Camera Prices Under $1600

Portland, OR - FLIR Systems (NASDAQ: FLIR) announced new low prices for its popular FLIR i5 and FLIR i7 thermal imaging cameras. Effective September 1, 2010, the entry level FLIR i5 will retail for $1,595. The FLIR i7 will retail for $1,995, making it the first infrared camera to meet the proposed RESNET thermal imaging inspection requirements for under $2,000. Both models are available now for immediate shipment through authorized FLIR distributors.

Know your spatial resolution

Spatial Resolution is also known as the Instantaneous Field of View (IFOV) or Spot Size. The limitations of the spatial resolution are due to the size and expense of the focal plane array (FPA).

Thermography: Maintenance Basics

Thermography: Maintenance Basics

A one hour recorded webinar playback on demand by Wesley Kasey, Sr. Tech Advisor of Iriss, Inc

This presentation is not for professional Thermographers. It's aim is to educate maintenance personnel as to what thermography can be doing to improve the overall condition and safety of your plant. At Iriss, we hear from countless companies who have an infrared camera but never put a program in place. The camera may have never even been powered on. Don't let this valuable tool go unused.

I believe that if you own a camera you should have at least a level I trained technician as well. However, this is the real world and you may need to prove the value of the equipment before any training dollars are spent. The technology is very simple to begin using. I hope this presentation will empower some technicians to begin using this useful tool. Thermography may take years to master... but it can be learned in a day.

Particpate to learn:

1) All areas of a plant can benefit from IR analysis

2) Protect your Job-help your plant! How can you use IR to give a better ROI to your management?

3) You need not be an electrician, mechanic, or thermographer to use thermography...which one of these is not like the other?!!

Choices, Choices, Choices…

Choosing The Right Camera  For Your Particular Needs

by R. Wayne Ruddock

In today’s world of infrared thermography, there are an increasing number of manufacturers offering a wide range of infrared camera packages.  In the past ten years the price has been reduced dramatically and the spatial resolution has increased.  There is far more acceptance of the technology today than in the past and an increase in the applications to which infrared thermography is applied.  The internet is also used to advertise, and in some cases, even sell infrared cameras.
