You always hear about establishing goals, setting ISO code cleanliness, getting some training, setting up an oil analysis program, and all the other things you need to do to have a successful lubrication program. In a perfect world we are set and ready to go. Well, I hate to be the one to tell you, but really there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ plan out there. So let’s have a practical discussion about some of the methods and equipment that can be used to achieve, and then maintain, our vision.
Contamination control is one of the greatest opportunity for gains in the average lube program. Significant gains in machinery reliability can be made with minimal investments. Your program's • ...
The goal of every lubrication program should be to ensure that all equipment receives and maintains the proper levels of lubrication such that no equipment fails due to inadequate or improper lubrication. In order for this to happen we must follow the 5R's of lubrication meaning the right lubricant; right condition; right location; right amount; right frequency are followed for each piece of equipment. Whether you are building a lubrication program from scratch or are falling in on an existing one the following four phases must be addressed in order to have an effective lubrication program that will meet your plant reliability goals.

Lubricant-dispensing equipment often lies at the root of cross contamination problems. By dispensing oil through equipment that was previously used with a different lubricant, the two fluids mix,
SANTA ANA, CA - IntelliStick Inc. recently completed a multi-month Pilot Program to evaluate its industrial Intrusion and Oil Condition System in the challenging environment of paper mills. The case study reports that IntelliStick reliably detects water intrusion and effectively monitors oil condition and temperature in real time using a single sensor. The program was conducted in conjunction with the Energy, Engineering and Maintenance Task Force of the Recycled Paperboard Technical Association.

A World Class Lube Room is not built overnight. A well planned and constructed lube room is time consuming but the benefits are rewarding. During this brief iPresentation you will learn what is required to have a World Class Lube Room and the benefits from having one.
Rising cost and shrinking availability of clean water for operating industrial pumps are of concern to many plant managers, as is as the high cost of treating this water for disposal. For over a half-century, the accepted method of providing cooling and flush water for mechanical seals and packing has been to pipe plant water through the seal or packing, and then to drain. Under this scenario, the normal consumption of water is 1.7 million gallons of water per pump, per year.
Inpro/Seal Company, the world’s largest producer of industrial bearing isolators, has published literature that provides a detailed overview of its Bearing Isolators and Bearing Isolator-based shaft seals. The literature is written in easy-to-understand language and should prove to be a useful tool for plant maintenance and operations people.
In today's world it is not good enough to put in the ‘specified' lubricant without knowing who specified it and why. One of the first steps in any lubrication program is determining the
First and only supplemental filtration system to use electronic controls to continuously optimize the cleaning process and remove both solid and liquid contaminants from lubricating oil
In tough working environments, machine reliability can be difficult to maintain - especially when contaminants threaten bearings and components. One such application is the universal driveshaft - a component that faces neglect due the extreme conditions and locations where they are used.
