SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Initial results of a two-ship pilot program show an estimated cost avoidance of $170,000 per ship and more than 1,000 annual man-hours. This pilot program is a Surface Force initiative to improve equipment reliability and to reduce maintenance costs utilizing a new vibration-monitoring module. The results also suggest that time spent in port for maintenance will be reduced significantly. This initiative is another example of how Naval Surface Forces (SURFOR) partners with other organizations, such as Naval Ship Systems Engineering Station (NAVSSES) Philadelphia, to improve warfighting readiness.
This article shows an interesting example of how Acoustic Analysis methods were used to solve a stubborn vibration problem where Experimental Modal Analysis and Operating Deflection Shape Analysis fell short.
Al verificar una resonancia irregular en un ventilador que no podía ser apagado, utilice una luz estroboscópica y apunte desde un filtro sintonizable a la frecuencia sospechosa.
In recent years, it has become rather common for large and medium sized facilities to begin predictive maintenance programs employing narrow band FFT- based vibration analysis equipment. The cost savings involved in this sort of quality predictive maintenance program easily justifies the ten to twenty thousand dollar cost of the data gathering box and related software.

Single point calibration is not a calibration at all. It is a sensitivity check at 100 Hz. An accelerometer is a dynamic sensor therefore it is required to have its sensitivity checked over its entire frequency range. There are two basic methods for doing this.
Wind turbines are dotted across the countryside, seaside, and even offshore. Many believe they are the answer to global warming and stopping the reduction of fossil fuel reserves. Whether you enjoy seeing them on the horizon, majestically spinning in the breeze, or believe they disturb the previously unspoiled landscape, for all of us in the reliability and condition monitoring fields, they pose a new challenge - we have to keep them turning!
You are often told that there is never just one problem with a machine. My very first vibration class taught me that a phase and magnitude vector was a combination of all the vibration from all of the forces acting upon the machine. Likewise, a spectrum also contains all of the frequencies from all of the forces acting upon a machine. So, it is never just imbalance, or just misalignment. It is always some combination of many forcing frequencies. This is precisely why wall charts and cookie cutter solutions do not always work. What follows is a story of multiple problems of mythical proportions.
Como controlar vibración sin instrumentos, paraecerá raro, ingenioso pero no , simplemente necesidad de evaluar estado el nivel vibratorio global sin tener con que cuantificarlo, utilize una
OROS now offers a dedicated software solution for users, manufacturers and third party service contractors dealing with turbomachinery testing. This new solution for vibration acceptance tests, signatures, diagnostics and other troubleshooting operation has been developed entirely by users for users.
When collecting vibration data with a portable collector, the transducer must be securely mounted to the collection point. I generally use a flat rare earth magnet, but there are some points that
The use of proper minimum frequency and maximum frequency (hereinafter referred to as f-min and f-max) is crucial in order to have an adequate frequency range for seeing and identifying
