KANSAS CITY, MO (Jan. 24, 2013)—In the world of maintenance and lubrication, several lubricant-related technical organizations now certify lubrication expertise. These include the International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML), the Society of Tribologists & Lubrication Engineers (STLE), and NLGI International. Each has an established program that documents the major criteria for demonstrating knowledge and skill in lubricants and lubrication practices. But only NLGI’s Certified Lubrication Grease Specialist program identifies those individuals who have true expertise in lubricating grease. The letters CLGS after one’s name signify both fundamental and extended knowledge of grease formulations, grease processing, grease testing and grease applications.
Gears are commonplace in many different industries. From high speed gearing found in turbo-machinery to slow speed gear reducers found across a multitude of manufacturing and process industries, gears are the workhorses of industry. Yet despite their widespread use, gears are perhaps the least maintained of all lubricated components. This can result in poor reliability, excessive maintenance and repair costs, and unscheduled production downtime.
Goodlettsville, Tenn. (December 3, 2012) - A short one year after introducing a system that combines lubrication storage and filtration for greater contamination control, Des-Case today announced that it has sold nearly 100 LT Series Lubricant Management Systems (LT-LMS) into a range of industrial settings in North and South America.

Additionally, the systems can be manufactured to supply up to three different lubricant mixtures to each press, allowing flexibility for various material applications.
Rockwall, Texas – The Whitmore Manufacturing Company, a leading producer of component protection technology, held a groundbreaking ceremony last week launching construction of a facility expansion of approximately 120,000 SF. It will be located on the north side of Justin Road, west of Industrial Blvd. and one mile north of Interstate 30.
In 2011, Des-Case Corporation commissioned a survey of almost 350 industry professionals on the topic of precision lubrication as it relates to overall equipment reliability. We asked them, "How important is precision lubrication to overall equipment reliability?" We provided the respondents with several options for potential responses. The respondents were able to select from one of seven responses, ranging from "critically important," "important but not critical," "slightly important" and so on down to "not at all important."

Today's mining industry is facing a new set of challenges. Commodity price projections for the future remain uncertain, global demand remains high and there is a global labor shortage. While the mining industry remains highly competitive and essential to continued global economic growth, mining companies continue to search for ways to sustain growth and profitability.
A forty-five minute long presentation by Jarrod Potteiger, Educational Services Manager, Des-Case Corporation
Getting the optimum life from bearings is somewhat uncommon. Many maintenance professionals don't even realize how long bearings should last in a given application. Unfortunately, many focus on failure prediction and repair efficiency when they could be preventing failures in the first place. In order to achieve longer bearing life, one must understand the common root causes of bearing wear and learn how to eliminate them.
Precision lubrication has several important components that are often summarized in the five "rights" of lubrication. Those being the right lubricant, in the right amount, at the right frequency, in the right place and of the right quality or condition.
