“MRO Inventory Optimization – It’s Easier Than You Think”

“MRO Inventory Optimization – It’s Easier Than You Think”

An hour long presentation by John Cowan, President of Xtivity Inc. and Tim Moxey, Director of Business Development for IHS, Inc.

Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) inventory consists of spare parts and other indirect materials that support critical production, facilities and fleet equipment. It can tie up 15% of all procurement spend and 75% of purchasing requisitions, yet most organizations use only 5% frequently while the remaining 95% sit in a company's inventory only to be used a few times per year or never at all.

Key Performance Indicators for Stores and MRO

By: Daniel DeWald

Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are used to measure and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly activities in MRO and Stores. Management uses them as tools to analyze past performance and make decisions as they move forward. KPIs are objective measurements, and taking these measurements is a key activity for the maintenance manager to oversee.

Taming Your MRO Spend

An hour long web workshop on demand presented by Niels Martin, Managing Director and Will Templeton, Solutions Specialist

It is estimated that U.S. industries alone purchase a staggering $136 billion per year on parts, materials, and supplies to support Maintenance, Repair and Operations. Yet most companies cannot effectively and systematically rationalize their spend - where they are over-purchasing/overspending, what materials are excess or duplicates, what inventory is obsolete, when they can use non-OEM alternatives. Until now. Join this web seminar to learn how to make informed and effective decisions to manage the supply chain and inventory on the parts and materials that will give you the most bang for your buck. We'll provide practical steps you can begin taking today to save your company millions.

Hydraulic Institute Introduces Pump Efficiency Prediction Guideline Publication

Parsippany NJ, February 2011 - - The Hydraulic Institute Pump Efficiency Prediction guideline (HI 20.3-2010) is now available in a separate, self-contained publication.  The guideline presents a simple method that will help pump users predict normally attainable efficiency levels at the best efficiency point (BEP) for selected types of rotodynamic pumps when the rate of flow, total head per stage, net positive suction head available (NPSHA), and the service conditions are known.  Graphs are used extensively to portray the relationship of pump efficiency versus different parameters.

MRO Inventory Rationalization and Optimization

By Ralph Rio

MRO materials inventory often has many thousands of stocking units (SKU) in small quantities with multiple stocking locations and unpredictable demand - making inventory management difficult. Maintenance organizations tend to focus on work orders and the equipment while giving lower priority to managing MRO inventory. The lack of inventory optimization results in higher inventory levels, carrying costs, and operating disruptions.

Repairable Spares: The Complete Program

By Daniel DeWald, CPIM

The establishment of a repairable spares program is essential to complete a solid MRO (maintenance parts, repair, and operating supplies) management program. Repairing parts before the point of failure is a strategy that reduces maintenance costs, reduces purchasing dollars in buying new equipment, and reduces the need for an increased capital budgeting process.

Critical Success Factors for MRO and the Storeroom

Critical Success Factors for MRO and the Storeroom

Presented by Daniel DeWald, CPIM, CPMM SME Materials Management Professional Consultant, GPAllied

Critical success factors (CSF) are an essential part of the storeroom and MRO. They need to be identified and reviewed to insure success. They are not a key performance indicator, but instead are elements vital to strategize policies and management to be a winning sector of the overall maintenance direction.

The Importance of Organizing MRO Inventory & Purchasing

By Terry Wireman, CPMM, CMRP

MRO inventory and purchasing organizations are the single biggest maintenance support functions that contribute to low maintenance productivity. MRO inventory and purchasing, in this article, stands for maintenance, repair, and overhaul inventory and purchasing. Many maintenance labor delays are related to issues concerning materials and spare parts. Because the purchasing function typically procures the materials for the MRO storerooms, it also has a big impact on maintenance productivity.

Material Planning Improves Maintenance Efficiency

One of the biggest contributors to maintenance efficiency and effective use of craft time is getting the correct parts and materials to the work site at the same time as the craft person. In
